Primary care,
the right way.
Healthcare is improved from within. We work with our physician partners so that the entire care team is engaged and committed to the changes we drive. Better patient access, better patient outcomes, lower costs…a recipe for a better primary care experience.
OUR APPROACH TO HEALTHCARE
The Problem with
Healthcare:
Primary care is fragmented and struggling with the transition to value-based care. Many primary care practices are small practices owned by the founding physicians with no exit or succession plan in place. Because of this, the majority of primary care that remains physician owned is predominantly fee-for-service.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) set a goal of having 100% of Traditional Medicare beneficiaries and the vast majority of Medicaid beneficiaries in value-based care by 2030. Primary care is a core mechanism for achieving this goal.
-
In Florida where MSL Capital focuses its investments, 31.5% of all licensed physicians (18,017) are primary care physicians. 10,075 physicians still operate in a solo practice setting. **
-
In Florida, 9.7% (5,633) of all physicians have indicated they plan to retire in the next five years. The majority being primary care physicians. Roughly 60% of practicing Florida physicians are age 50 or older. **
-
Despite value-based care’s promise for better patient outcomes, greater reimbursements and enhanced patient-provider alignment, the shift to value-based care has been slow. A fragmented primary care landscape with limited resources makes this problem persistent.
The Solution:
MSL Capital brings a combination of capital, strong operating expertise, and strategic vision that allows us to create businesses that deliver substantial value to patients, providers, payors and shareholders. By consolidating the best primary care practices into a single institutional primary care platform, we drive the transition to value-based care and improve patient outcomes.
